Thank You Daddy-New Car!

After 102,000 miles, 8 years, and 8 accidents, it was time to say goodbye to my little Corolla. We ended up getting a Subaru Forrester, which has a lot more space and a lot more features (most importantly, heated seats) than the old car. Since I’m not working, Steve had to get the car which meant he had to do all the legwork and paperwork. I told Lily he was getting us a new car so she’s been saying “Thank You Daddy new car!” all week. Last night we picked it up and she also thanked the salesman for her new car.
First ride in the new car!
Thanks Steve for getting us a new car!
Yesterday we met up with my friend Erin and her son Jackson for a playdate at Mall Tots. It’s a giant indoor playground which both kids LOVED. Erin and I worked together at my last job and we were pregnant at the same time in 2009- Lily was born about 10 weeks before Jackson. Fast forward to 2012, and we are both expecting again! This time Erin is about 10 weeks ahead of me so the babies will have the same age difference again. We also had them in opposite order- a girl first for me, and boy for her, and this time a boy for me and a girl for her. Funny how these things work out! Although I’ve met Jackson and Erin’s met Lily, this was the first time we had the kids together. They seemed to have fun but the place was so big they were all over running and playing. They did share very nicely at lunch and at breakfast this morning Lily asked “Where Jackson?”
We’ve been teaching Lily her last name, and this picture is her inside the tunnel informing another little girl “I Lily Crowdaah” Shortly after, the girl who was about 4, took Lily’s hand and said “Come on, I want to show you to my mom.” Too cute.
Lily’s been talking up a storm lately, and has been having real conversations with long sentences. The other day she looks at me and says “Mom, You’re Katie?” and the next day at Target proceeded to call me Katie repeatedly. She also sometimes calls Steve “Deeve”. It’s funny when she pronounces something incorrectly since she is generally right on. She asks us to get things from the “frigerlater” and still calls Goldfish “Jo-jas”, yet she knows her ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle and a few other songs. She doesn’t watch TV much or for very long, so her favorite show to watch is actually 10 minutes of nursery rhymes with kids dancing around, on Baby Boost. She gives us the remote and asks for “song one”. One of the songs is Old MacDonald, which she has decided must relate to Oreos- she calls them “EIOs” .
Her favorite non-nursery rhyme is Adele’s “Someone Like You” She will ask for it in the car and whenever we play it or it comes on the radio (constantly) she sings along. That is the only adult song she sings along with, and it’s adorable. I need to get a video of it!
She’s loving story time at the library and next week we start a playgroup there. With all of her time at the library, she has also been imitating story time and reading to her babies…
Or demanding that someone read to her…although I don’t think Grampy put up any argument.
